I very much like the idea of shared devotion, but I admit to being rather uneasy about doing this “from my computer” – “It only takes one minute”.
It reminds me of those distasteful US TV preachers who invite us to press our hands to the TV screen and ‘share’.
I do not believe for an instant that the Sons of the Holy Redeemer are anything other than decent and sincere, but perhaps they have been infected by the grubby evangelist culture, and have become habituated to tacky practice.
Am I too critical?

Raven replies: “I think you already know the answer to that one.”

Forty Hours (Quarant Ore) is a most beautiful devotion and one that many youmg Catholics are not aware of, owing to the infrequency and logistics of parish Churches being able to stay open for 40 hours. In recent times my only experience has been when (as in the case of the Sons) it is celebrated at a Church that either part or adjoins a Religious Order. If you have the chance to spend some time before the Blessed Sacrament in this way, I beg – please do not pass it by.
As for Whippy being critical, your criticism couldn’t be further away from fact. May I ask: have you ever watched for any time at Forty Hours? (even in the long distant past?).

OK folks, my comment was closely about the instant ‘gratification’ of computerised devotion. Nothing more. The responses have been other than that.
Perhaps I’m past my sell-by date, in more ways than one….
No G, I have not watched for any time at Forty Hours.
Oh Raven, The dodgy Ahmedinejad did not refer to wiping ‘Israel’ off the map, he referred to ‘Zionism’.

Actually, Whippy, we’re both wrong about what the lovely Inmahdinnerjacket said: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/fact-checker/post/did-ahmadinejad-really-say-israel-should-be-wiped-off-the-map/2011/10/04/gIQABJIKML_blog.html
