Vatican City, 31 October 2013 (VIS) – Today, during a private audience with Cardinal Angela Amato S.D.B., prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, Pope Francis authorised the Congregation to promulgate the following decrees:

HEROIC VIRTUES

– Servant of God Honora “Nano” Nagle, (Joan of God), Irish foundress of the Union of the Presentation Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary (1718-1784)

    As at February 2011 there are 69 Presentation Sisters in the Queensland Congregation. In the 1960s there were about 150 and many young women wanted to join us. Now we have not had any new members for 26 years. There is no doubt that religious congregations such as ours seem to be in a very vulnerable position with a very uncertain future.

    Perhaps it’s true that religious orders (some at least) come and go. (Interesting reading under the heading “TAKE ACTION!” on the right-hand side of the page.)
