CDF directive on Medjugorje

The Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith has directed that bishops be advised that

“clerics and the faithful are not permitted to participate in meetings, conferences or public celebrations during which the credibility of such ‘apparitions’ would be taken for granted.”

These trips of the Medjugorje visionary to the US have now been called off.
There was a lot of interesting discussion on this topic last night on EWTN.

    From Rorate Coeli:
The [above] letter was apparently first publicized on the pro-Medjugorgje site “Spirit Daily”. At the very least it signals that the Medjugorje Commission is still actively investigating the alleged “apparitions”, and refutes the assumption, held in some “Marian” circles, that the apparitions are presumed to be genuine pending the final judgment of Rome.”

    This is a real bombshell!

  2. Please God, lots of people will see this letter. The number of people who have a devotion to what has supposedly happened at Medjugorje is staggering.

    Jolly Jinks, the sailor man,
Went to sea in an oyster can.
But he found the water wet,
    Fishes got into his net,
So he pulled his boat to shore
And vowed he’d sail the seas no more

    Jack and Jill
    Went up the hill
And planned to do some kissing.
    He made a pass
    He grabbed her ass
And now his teeth are missing.

Toad says one man’s celestial apparition is another man’s optical illusion.

    – Medjugorje, Fatima, Little Green Men, or UFO’s.

Nice to hear from JonKon again.
A man of much perception, plus a hint of arcane ambiguity, from time to time.
“I guess the Vatican is not in the business of selling the liquor of spiritual indolence…”
…Well, they won’t get rich by giving it away.
