Be at Peace

By Saint Francis de Sales, Bishop and Doctor of the Church:

Be at peace

Do not look forward in fear to the changes in life;
rather, look to them with full hope that as they arise,
God, whose very own you are,
will lead you safely through all things;
and when you cannot stand it,
God will carry you in His arms.

Do not fear what may happen tomorrow;
the same understanding Father who cares for
you today will take care of you then and every day.

He will either shield you from suffering
or will give you unfailing strength to bear it.
Be at peace,
and put aside all anxious thoughts and imaginations.

COLLECT for the Feast of Saint Francis de Sales:

O God, who for the salvation of souls
willed that the Bishop Saint Francis de Sales
become all things to all,
graciously grant that, following his example,
we may always display the gentleness of your charity
in the service of our neighbour.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.

    The prayers sound all good with beautiful recitations that make one feel great while listening but we are unable to walk the walk. The state of affair of the human race is pathetic, an indicator that there is no effect from these recitations, they do not change the restless heart. The things in the minds have clouded our hearts.

    The majority of your comments are just too full of woe and doom, and even gravely misguided, to ever pass through our Moderation process.
    Even this last one that has been allowed through shows you have an extremely negative, one-sided view of people. In seeing only the sinful side of Men (that can, without doubt, include real wickedness) you totally ignore the good and the great that is also within the human soul. If Our Blessed Lord thought we were worth His coming to Earth to shed His Precious Blood to save us from our sins and show us the way to Heaven, who are you to say Men are all worthless?

    It would take pages to even start to list the many examples of Man’s good works achieved through his Faith, Hope and Charity poured into him through Grace, by having been formed in the Image and Likeness of his Creator. This openness to God “with a humble and contrite heart” has enabled him down through the centuries to adore and thank God for His great gifts (even when a fuller understanding of God was denied to Men before the Birth of Christ) and following on from his love of God, to better serve his fellow men.

    You deny the power of Prayer which is paramount to saying you deny Our Lord’s Jesus Christ’s words. Metaphorically speaking, “Prayer moves mountains!!”

    We may be unable “to walk the walk” in perfection, limited human beings that we are, but in this very act of carrying the “cross” of our recognised many limitations with us, Our Lord will fill us with His Strength and Love to lighten our burden.
    Try it! Take a first step forward in Faith and you will see for yourself.

    God Bless you.
