John Jalsevac from LifeSiteNews is inviting signatures to a message of thanks to Cardinal Burke for his faithful service and pledges of prayer for him:

The news just broke from Rome today! Pope Francis has officially removed Cardinal Burke from his position at the Vatican. You can find more details here, or below.

As of this writing, over 6,400 people have joined in signing the petition thanking the Cardinal and pledging to pray for him. We are aiming for at least 15,000, before we personally hand-deliver the signatures to the cardinal in Rome.

Please be sure to share the petition with your family and friends. Click here.

I love this man and pray for him every day at mass. Please ask our Blessed Mother, Queen of the Angels, to send Warring Angels to Cardinal Burke to keep him invisible to the enemy.

I’m with you, Laura. At Malta, Holy Mother Church achieved a miraculous victory against the Enemy about half a millenium ago. Perhaps God is sending us a message that Cardinal Burke is destined for greater things in the fullness of time.

The words of St Basil the Great, quoted recently by Bp. Athanasius Schneider on the Rorate Caeli site, come to mind: “Only one sin is nowadays severely punished: the attentive observance of the traditions of our Fathers. For that reason the good ones are thrown out of their places and brought to the desert.”

The Catholic Herald reported yesterday that to date: “Almost 15,000 people have signed a petition thanking Cardinal Raymond Burke for his Vatican service.”

This is wonderful news, but hopefully that number will be much greater by the time the signatures are handed in to Rome. Please keep spreading the word about it.

And Saint Basil the Great made that comment before the year 400 a.d. Haven’t got very far in the last 1,600 years, it seems, have we? Always sunnier in the Good Old Days, wasn’t it? Even back then.
But, with that in mind, what hallowed “traditions” are the conservatives among us referring to – that have subsequently been lost, as they bemoan?
