  1. An acquaintance commented, “Yes, clear statements about television and computers that conform to the teachings of the Church. Now, if only the pope would make equally clear statements about marriage and sexuality and other matters, clear statements that conform to the teachings of the Church. Of course, that’s exactly what we’re going to get from him after the October synod, isn’t it?”

    “Dream on,” said another friend.

    Quite, RJB. In the same vein our Holy Father has proclaimed a World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, and if I can drag my sorry *** (spelled **** for our English friends) out of bed, I do intend to go to Mass next Tuesday to join with him in his prayers for Gaia; but I think he should also be proclaiming a special day of prayer for Christianity in the Middle East, if not a Crusade.
