U.S. Election Prayer

clinton-trump-1024x576

This is, according to the MSM, the most unpopular U.S. election choice in its whole history; yet it is a choice that will affect not only the 320 million Americans, but the whole world. Therefore, please, our American friends, pray the ‘Election Prayer’ before casting your vote.

ELECTION PRAYER

O God, we acknowledge you today as Lord,
Not only of individuals, but of nations and governments.

We thank you for the privilege
Of being able to organize ourselves politically
And of knowing that political loyalty
Does not have to mean disloyalty to you.

We thank you for your law,
Which our Founding Fathers acknowledged
And recognized as higher than any human law.

We thank you for the opportunity that this election
year puts before us,
To exercise our solemn duty not only to vote,
But to influence countless others to vote,
And to vote correctly.

Lord, we pray that your people may be awakened.
Let them realize that while politics is not their salvation,
Their response to you requires that they be politically active.

Awaken your people to know that they are
not called to be a sect fleeing the world
But rather a community of faith renewing the world.

Awaken them that the same hands lifted up to you in prayer
Are the hands that pull the lever in the voting booth;
That the same eyes that read your Word
Are the eyes that read the names on the ballot,
And that they do not cease to be Christians
When they enter the voting booth.

Awaken your people to a commitment to justice
To the sanctity of marriage and the family,
To the dignity of each individual human life,
And to the truth that human rights begin when human lives begin,
And not one moment later.

Lord, we rejoice today
That we are citizens of your kingdom.

May that make us all the more committed
To being faithful citizens on earth.

We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Dragging Jesus into this unholy and squalid mess seems more than a little cavalier
    – (to Toad.)

  2. marysong says:

Long live Christ the King! We pray!

I can’t see how anyone could pray these words sincerely and still vote for Hillary Clinton!

Vote counts starting now. We hold our breath!

  4. Toad says:

“To the sanctity of marriage and the family,”
…But you could imagine praying that, and voting for Trump, Kathleen. OK.

  5. The Raven says:

“Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.”

  6. Toad says:

    …Mencken,
Coincidentally I quoted him on Facebook earlier today:
“The American people, taken one with another. constitute the most timorous, snivelling, poltroonish, ignominious, mob of serfs and goose-steppers ever gathered under one flag in Christendom since the end of the Middle Ages.”

  7. Brother Burrito says:

Mencken: “A nation too long at peace becomes a sort of gigantic old maid”.

Which is why all nations must always be at war,

against the enemies of humanity: the world, the flesh, and the devil!

  8. Toad says:

“Mencken: “A nation too long at peace becomes a sort of gigantic old maid”.
Well Burro, in this case – I must reserve the right to say to him, whom I hugely admire, ” Utter tripe, Mencken. No peace, as opposed to war, can ever be too long,”
Because I personally don’t ever feel obliged to accept anything anyone says without question, – i.e. by “revelation.”
…Which I regard as patently absurd. I may be wrong, of course.

Yes, I do, Toad, and I would have voted for Trump!
He may indeed be flawed (who isn’t?) but he is the one who promises to protect all the truths and values that Catholics hold dear. Hilary Clinton (OTOH) hates our guts, and would have tried to abolish all those values.
Look at his “letter to Catholics” on our new post.
