Without Christ And The Catholic Faith We Are Doomed

Over various centuries of the Middle Ages, valiant Crusaders held back the tides of false prophet Mohammad’s murdering hoards, saving, and sometimes recapturing, Christian lands that the Mohammedans (the name Islam’s followers were previously known by) had taken by force from Christian hands. These European Crusaders, our chivalrous ancestors, would now look with horror and despair to witness what has become of the lands for which they once sacrificed so much. They gave their lives to free Europe from the evils of Islam and maintain her as a stronghold for Christ and Christendom… and from where the One True Faith would later be spread to faraway lands. And yet now, what have we become? Gradually having turned our backs on our glorious Christian heritage, we have embraced the errors of vacant Secularism and opened the doors (both in reality and metaphorically-speaking) to the sinister aims of bloodthirsty Islam once more! Islam – a faith-system that originated after the visits of Satan, in angelic disguise, to Mohammad – in order to fuel its inborn hatred and anger for “the followers of the Cross”, still prefers to call us “Crusaders”, as in this gloating Islamic report of the Manchester bombing atrocity. If only we were still true Crusaders, in heart and soul, Islam could never harm us. See Laurence England’s article below.

By Laurence England (on Facebook)

[Spanish Kings] Ferdinand and Isabella told Muslims to convert or leave Spain. When asked what they should convert to, they were told, ‘to the Catholic Faith’.
I expect that eventually the British Government will tell the Muslims to convert or leave the UK. When asked what they should convert to, they will be told, ‘to secularism’. Good luck with that. Where Ferdinand and Isabella registered some failure and some success, you can guarantee secularism holds little appeal to serious Muslims who by and large want to worship God.

The problem is we don’t really have anything to say to Muslims here in the UK. If we do, we are accused of political incorrectness and lose our jobs. If we tried to convert them, tell them about the teachings of Jesus, even our Pope would judge us of ‘proselytism’.
We have nothing to offer Muslims here, yes the vast majority of Muslims would never dream of hurting their neighbours. But secularism is not working and it won’t. The inclusive society will accommodate both LGBT fanatics who destroy marriage and Muslim fanatics who blow up people. It has to. It’s ‘inclusive’.

People look at Poland and say, ‘There is a country with few Muslims and no terrorism’. And its true. But that is also a country with a 90% Catholic population still holding out against the tide of secularism and atheism that dominates Western Europe. That’s a country that would give serious consideration to deporting Muslims in order to secure the country from the threat of terrorism. That’s a country that wouldn’t tolerate Islamic threat. They know, because their own history tells us the story of how they faced the Islamic threat down and stopped it from marauding across Europe.

Until this country [UK] rediscovers the only religion that saves – that is Catholicism – it is doomed – and I mean doomed in every conceivable way. Since January, how many unborn children have been slaughtered in their mother’s wombs in our cities? How many? And then we say, ‘Don’t murder our children, you monsters!” Of course they are monsters but we ourselves [are] killing our own children before they are even born!

We have nothing of value to say to Muslims. In fact, we have nothing to say to anyone. Just ‘tolerance’. We have no credibility in what we say. We have less of value to say to Muslims who are radicalised and become terrorists, who think that by taking human life they are doing God a favour. In previous ages, Kings and Queens were able to say: ‘Become disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ or leave!’ Who would dare say that now? What King, what Queen? What Monarch? Which President?

Who says ‘Love your neighbour as yourself’?
Who says, ‘He who lives by the sword shall die by the sword’?
Who says, ‘When you did it to the least of these my brethren, you did it unto Me?’
Who says, ‘Nobody comes to the Father except through Me?’
Only one Man. Jesus Christ. Terror or no terror, this country is doomed without Him. Without Him, marriages fall apart. Without Him, people are embroiled in sin and error. Without Him, we lose our very reason for existing. Without Him, there is no hope. Without Him, we will kill our very own children! Without Him, we have nothing to say to our assailants and those who wish to visit death upon us! Nothing to say at all! They can see we believe in nothing! We cannot even tell them that the flight of their sword to our necks will bring us a martyrs palm! They do not fear death, they only fear the wrath of God yet we cannot even tell them that if they kill and maim children, Hell will be their eternal dwelling! Not even if they murder children, because we no longer believe in a God of justice or even mercy! They see we are ripe to conquer and we are! We say, ‘We stand united!’ United by what? United in whom? If Jesus not our King, and Mary is not our Queen then we are united only in our alienation from God and our enmity with Him! At least they can say, “God is on our side”, even if they are wrong. We cannot even say “The true God is on ours! Our King reigns from a Cross!”

May the souls of the departed rest in peace and may the Lord convert to His One Holy Faith all pagans and infidels who are on the road to eternal death.

  1. Mary Salmond says:

Kathleen, 2 great posts about Moors, Moslems, and Muslims. I tried to tell a millennial about the invasion of Western Europe 1000 years ago, I received a ” deer in the headlights look”. The rewriting of history, anti-Catholic narratives about the crusades, and apologetics of the white European have been taught. The skewed history has anesthesized the general public. There is no urgency to look at the invasion of a whole world take over!

  2. kathleen says:

That is so true, Mary! It is quite amazing how ignorant people are – yes, even many Catholics themselves – of the real history of the Church. Too many have been simply brainwashed by an anti-Catholic narrative constantly telling us how wicked we always were, and twisting the truth of many episodes of our past to suit the godless, secular mindset.

One notable Catholic author, Thomas Madden, has written much on subjects like the Crusades in order to set the record straight. This excerpt below is taken from his essay, “The Real History of the Crusades“.

    “[…]

So what is the truth about the Crusades? Scholars are still working some of that out. But much can already be said with certainty. For starters, the Crusades to the East were in every way defensive wars. They were a direct response to Muslim aggression – an attempt to turn back or defend against Muslim conquests of Christian lands.

Christians in the eleventh century were not paranoid fanatics. Muslims really were gunning for them. While Muslims can be peaceful, Islam was born in war and grew the same way. From the time of Mohammed, the means of Muslim expansion was always the sword. Muslim thought divides the world into two spheres, the Abode of Islam and the Abode of War. Christianity – and for that matter any other non-Muslim religion – has no abode. Christians and Jews can be tolerated within a Muslim state under Muslim rule. But, in traditional Islam, Christian and Jewish states must be destroyed and their lands conquered. When Mohammed was waging war against Mecca in the seventh century, Christianity was the dominant religion of power and wealth. As the faith of the Roman Empire, it spanned the entire Mediterranean, including the Middle East, where it was born. The Christian world, therefore, was a prime target for the earliest caliphs, and it would remain so for Muslim leaders for the next thousand years.

With enormous energy, the warriors of Islam struck out against the Christians shortly after Mohammed’s death. They were extremely successful. Palestine, Syria, and Egypt – once the most heavily Christian areas in the world – quickly succumbed. By the eighth century, Muslim armies had conquered all of Christian North Africa and Spain. In the eleventh century, the Seljuk Turks conquered Asia Minor (modern Turkey), which had been Christian since the time of St. Paul. The old Roman Empire, known to modern historians as the Byzantine Empire, was reduced to little more than Greece. In desperation, the emperor in Constantinople sent word to the Christians of western Europe asking them to aid their brothers and sisters in the East.

That is what gave birth to the Crusades. They were not the brainchild of an ambitious pope or rapacious knights but a response to more than four centuries of conquests in which Muslims had already captured two-thirds of the old Christian world. At some point, Christianity as a faith and a culture had to defend itself or be subsumed by Islam. The Crusades were that defense.

  3. How good it is to see that more and more people are no longer willing to believe in the fairy tales about it Islam. They’re starting to get it – starting to understand what Islam really is and what it will take to prevent it from continuing to expand across Europe.

“..we have embraced the errors of vacant Secularism and opened the doors (both in reality and metaphorically-speaking) to the sinister aims of bloodthirsty Islam once more! “

“(People are) starting to get it – starting to understand what Islam really is and what it will take to prevent it from continuing to expand across Europe.”

OK. Will someone, tell us exactly what it will take? Or else all this moaning, hair-pulling and hand-wringing is nothing but empty verbiage. I get the idea, that “Kill them all,” is probably the basic idea. Not very Christian, we might think.
If God wants to do something about it, surely He will – and we can safely leave it to Him?

And how would Catholics regard the idea of a world-wide take-over by their religion?
    With horror?

  5. Mary Salmond says:

1.Change the history textbooks to Truth or 2 sides rather than the skewed and misrepresented one-sided narratives. 2. Get rid of liberal teachers in the colleges, which mean the administrations should be more centrist rather than far left and who worry about powder puff students and doting parents. 3. Change the authors of books and tests to fair minded writers. 4. Make students take responsibility for their errant actions. This is just for starters.

  6. toadspittle says:

“1.Change the history textbooks to Truth or 2 sides rather than the skewed and misrepresented one-sided narratives…”
Most people are perfectly happy with a one-sided narrative – provided it’s the side to which they subscribe. Otherwise, they’re not.
    2. Get rid of liberal teachers in the colleges,
Replace them with illiberal ones – who parrot our opinions
    3. Change the authors of books and tests to fair minded writers.
Writers whose opinions we approve of, in fact. Burn the books of the rest.
    4. Make students take responsibility for their errant actions.
…Such as disagreeing with whatever we try to indoctrinate them with,
    Wonderful.

  7. Mary Salmond says:

Ok. So what is your solution, other than conversion to Christianity?

  8. kathleen says:

I get the idea, that “Kill them all,” is probably the basic idea.

Wherever did you get that “idea” from? We were talking about the totally legitimate defensive action of the Crusades….. Not an imitation of the provocative, aggressive, bellicose, barbaric methods used by Islam!

And how would Catholics regard the idea of a world-wide take-over by their religion?
    With horror?

A forced take-over do you mean?
Yes, with absolute horror, is the simple answer to your fanciful, hypothetical question. Of course.
But as you well know Catholicism has never in its two thousand year history been spread that way. Evangelisation to bring others into the One True Faith has always, yes ALWAYS, since the time of the Apostles, been through preaching the Word (contained in the Church’s Magisterial teaching), and by being a faithful witness oneself to the Person of Christ in our daily lives. IOW, we must “practice” what we “preach”.
It has always been the living witness of Christians living as other “Christs” that has brought men to embrace the Faith.
(P.S. How totally disparate to the spread of Islam!! War, forced conversions, fear… and those who are attracted by power and violence, are its main hallmarks.)

Toad, you really do say some wild and contentious things. Take your hounds for walkies and cool off!
How much longer are you going to battle against God?

  9. toadspittle says:

“How much longer are you going to battle against God?”
I have no quarrel with God, Kathleen. I question some of the ideas some people have about him, that’s all.

  10. kathleen says:

Well yes, Toad, I agree one does hear some strange “ideas” about God sometimes… from Prods mostly, and those Catholiks of an extreme liberal tendency (who try to rewrite the Gospel to suit their worldly ideology).
But no “strange ideas” from anyone on here, AFAICS… that is, except from you, our ‘resident court jester’!! 😉

  11. Mary Salmond says:

So, that’s what Toadspittle is, court jester? I was sure he was a nemesis and antagonist!!

  12. toadspittle says:

    “…a nemesis and antagonist!!”
Heavens, no Mary. I’m just a silly, harmless, old Toad.

“Well yes, Toad, I agree one does hear some strange “ideas” about God sometimes… from Prods mostly, and those Catholiks of an extreme liberal tendency…”
Nothing from Atheists or Muslims, I notice. How odd.
Although you would, I imagine, agree that ideas like miracles, transubstantiation, hobgoblins, demons, The Secrets of Fatima, the Sacred Monkeys in the Vatican, and Original Sin are very “strange.”
Yes, but they are also true, you will no doubt say.
    OK.
    Takes all sorts, etc.

  13. Mary Salmond says:

Do Muslims and atheist search Christian venues? Only ones that might be open to change? And what are sacred monkeys in the Vatican?

  14. kathleen says:

And what are sacred monkeys in the Vatican?

    There’s no such thing, Mary…. Toad’s a mischief-making leprechaun 😉.
The whole bizarre idea comes from a character in the famous novel, Brideshead Revisited by Catholic author, Evelyn Waugh.

Oh, and as you can see in this article by John Vennari (RIP), there was once that scandalous slide show projecting pics of wild animals onto the facade of the Vatican which included a monkey or two! (Big sigh)

  15. Mary Salmond says:

Yes, Toad being facetious! Don’t remember that in the movie but will read Venarri later. Thanks.

  16. toadspittle says:

Yes, Mary,Kathleen’s correct. There are no sacred monkeys in the Vatican. Pope Francis exiled them all to Malta, along with Raymond.

“Do Muslims and atheist search Christian venues? Only ones that might be open to change?”
Nor sure what you mean. Is that the Catholic Church is not “open to change”? It certainly is

  17. mary salmond says:

I vaguely remember radio pundits making fun of the animals on the Vatican building. It was sort of comical, but it probably did catch the eye of environmentalists. i realized you slipped that “sacred monkeys” phrase in, just for fun! But maybe there are a few monkeys in the Vatican.
About “open to change”: I meant the atheists or Muslims who may decide their religion isn’t and doesn’t have the tenets what they think it should have – a message of true love. So then they start searching for answers and look to different churches. They are then open to other explanations of why they exist, answers to who God is, etc. Otherwise, when they are not open to change, they don’t seek out Christian venues. I think of Rosalind Moss (she has a religious name now) who skipped from religion to religion looking for the truth. She has a good journey story.

  18. toadspittle says:

“How totally disparate to the spread of Islam!! War, forced conversions, fear…”
Are you seriously suggesting that what happened to the Muslims (and Jews) in Spain – wasn’t “forced conversions”? .
See the first two sentences of Mr England’s story, above.

    But then he says:
“I expect that eventually the British Government will tell the Muslims to convert or leave the UK.”
    Utter nonsense.

“People look at Poland and say, ‘There is a country with few Muslims and no terrorism’. “Few Poles, either, some might say. Lots of them are working in the UK, these days.
    (Which is fine with me.)

  19. kathleen says:

Toad, Spain had just come away from seven long centuries of cruel Muslim oppression. After freeing themselves at great cost from the Islamic sword, are you really so naive that you think the Spanish Catholic kings could have allowed the bellicose Muslims to stick around and not attempt a counter-attack at some point?

Besides, a “forced conversion” is when the alternative is either to convert or have your head cut off (Islamic style); whereas here the Muslim invaders were given the choice of conversion to the Catholic faith, or a return to their original homelands. It might seem pretty radical to us now, but there was really no other way the Catholic Monarchs could have consolidated a peaceful existence with “the Moors” (as they were called) other than these two alternatives.

  20. toadspittle says:

    What about the Jews, Kathleen?

    I should elaborate a bit.
We can surely agree that four or five hundred years back, just about everyone, Catholics, Protestants, and Muslims – were constantly being beastly to each other, boiling anyone they disagreed with in oil, or whatever.
Everyone, in fact, except the poor old Jews who were never beastly to anyone.
Nowadays, apart from the Muslim lunatic fringe, and what the Israelis do to the Palestinians, we are all relatively nice to each other.
    This is decided progress.

[Moderator – Too much from Toad for one day. Five offerings have been rolled into one.]

  21. GC says:

the poor old Jews who were never beastly to anyone

The earlier bits of the OT would seem to disagree with you. Plenty of smiting of Canaanites et al. there.

St Paul in today’s first Mass reading from Acts was a bit tetchy too about Jews giving him a hard time.
