My Second Favourite Canadian

(after JohnHenry that is)

Dr Jordan B Peterson is becoming a bit of a media star because his highly reasoned arguments, debates and interviews have flooded YouTube by popular assent.

His position is that men have to reclaim their manhood if humankind is to avoid a race-destroying implosion, or worse. Look, it’s simpler if you just watch a video:

The first part is of his appearance before some Canadian judicial body querying his refusal to accept ideological quashing of his right to not use politically correct gender-labelling.

The second part (from 07:55) is his interview of a brilliantly reasonable transgender(?) person who then does all the talking in support of his thesis, and does it extremely well.

About Brother Burrito

A sinner who hopes in God's Mercy, and who cannot stop smiling since realizing that Christ IS the Way , the Truth and the Life. Alleluia!

Burrito: yes, I’ve watched him, either just himself or in interviews. Delightful person. Wondered if he was Catholic?

Hi BB and thanks for this post.

My son introduced me to the great Peterson via this car crash interview with Cathy Newman originally aired on C4:

Many love him but some think he could go further:

  3. Brother Burrito says:

    Dear Mary Salmond,

He is a marvellous speaker with a mind like a steel trap. I will follow his career avidly. I do not know if he is Catholic, but then who cares: “Everything that rises, must converge” – Flannery O’Connor.

  4. Mary Salmond says:

Thanks. He is so wirey! Very, very much into dissecting thoughts of his own and others. No it doesn’t matter if he is Catholic, but I didn’t want to be listening to a hawkins or hitchens either.

BB, this is a fantastic defence of common sense by Dr Peterson! He’s just great, a real man 😉, and unafraid to take on the whole PC establishment brainwashed with this evil gender theory madness. He deserves all our ‘I-am-Spartacus’ support: “I AM JORDAN PETERSON”!!

I think this more or less sums up his religious beliefs:
In 2017 Dr Peterson identified himself as a “Christian”, without saying to which denomination he belonged. But when he was asked again earlier this year if he believed in God, he responded: “I think the proper response to that is No, but I’m afraid He might exist”. (!!) According to British author, Tim Lott, “Peterson draws inspiration from Jung’s philosophy of religion, and holds views similar to the Christian existentialism of Søren Kierkegaard and Paul Tillich.”

  6. mmvc says:

Here’s what Peterson says about his religious beliefs:

I love the man. I pray for him and invite others to pray that he may come to know the fullness of Truth.

Brother Burrito writes, “His position is that men have to reclaim their manhood if humankind is to avoid a race-destroying implosion, or worse.”

Some people are pessimistic. They are afraid it may already be too late for us “to avoid a (human) race destroying implosion.”

And what could be “worse”? It would be worse if in the end we are dominated by The Great Religion of Peace, which is itself a male-dominated belief system.

  8. Toad says:

”But when (Peterson) was asked again earlier this year if he believed in God, he responded: “I think the proper response to that is ”No, but I’m afraid He might exist”.
I suspect he might have had a Catholic, or a least, ‘Christian,’ upbringing. But I don’t know.
Anyway, we can reassure Jordan* it matters little , can’t we? Just as long as we are not Lutherans or Muslims. Atheists are OK.
Very similar to someone, (can;t remember who, sorry) saying , ”i don’t believe in God, but I’m frightened of Him.”
Like Toad used to be. Until he grew up.

    *Biblical protestant?

  9. Scott Vannan says:

The assembly he is addressing is the Canadian Senate. It is comparable to the House of Lords in England. Acts of Parliament need to be presented to the Senate before they become law, so this was a very important hearing.

  10. Toad says:

” I do not know if he is Catholic, but then who cares:”
    Certainly not me, Bro. Burrissimo.

But then, despite everything, I’m very fond of Catholics. Wonderfully trusting people. Still, I’d put ‘Jordan’ a fraction or so behind Leonard Cohen. (Who was, unfortunately, a Jew) in the Canadian Pantheon – and the merest hair’s breath in front of JH – who is the only honest (well, up to a point, anyway) lawyer – North of Detroit.
    Or so they tell me.
…But what do either of us know?

  11. mmvc says:

Thank you, Scott for filling us in on this.
Perhaps the closest we have to Peterson here in the UK is Jacob Rees Mogg who is equally unflappable and fearless in the face of lefty attacks.

  12. Toad says:

In case people might think otherwise – I’m a strong supporter of Peterson, who has to deal with the lunacies of people who think they have ”The Truth,” regarding morals and mores regarding behaviour – very often sexual, or sexualo-political.
…Which they don’t. Nor does anyone. Certainly not Peterson. And he knows it. And says so.

The alleged misuse of gender language (for want of a better word) is another thing.
I happen to think he’s entirely right about that, as well.
I might be wrong. And so might he.
    …But I highly doubt it.
