Syrian Bishop: “Better War-torn Syria Than Rotten Europe”

“Syria has been assaulted by big countries who want to export us – democracy? […]  There is no real democratic country [in Europe except] maybe Switzerland. […] I’ve lived in Europe and I didn’t see democracy there. […] I feel sad about the European people more than my people who chose to migrate to Europe … the European people are consumers, the same applies in the U.S. … our people are happier. […] The real problem is the wrong policies of the U.S. and the weakness of the European position. Europe is weak and doesn’t have independent decision if Europe relies on its values and its strength. Were it not for Russia we would have been slaughtered … God sent Russia to save us. […] The Syrian people support President Assad and that’s why he’s survived all this time… he serves all Syrians. […] Muslims need the Christians to stay and we will stay!” – Bishop Battah of Syria.

Reported on GLORIA TV, 23rd April, 2018.

Bishop Jano Battah

Syrians should not emigrate as they won’t be happy in Europa, said Syrian Catholic Bishop Jano Battah.

Talking to Syriana Analysis (April 12) Battah said that there is a “comfort life” in Europe. But this comes with a price, “The French revolution has marginalized God.“

Battah has lived in Europe for 15 years and knows that Christians in Europe are a minority. In France “the percentage of atheists is higher”.

About Syrian politics he said, that there is no alternative to president Assad, “If you have to choose between Assad and jungle, you choose Assad.”

According to Battah “the real problem is the wrong policies of the United States”. And, “Were it not for Russia, we would have been slaughtered.”

Battah points out that there is no war between Christians and Moslems in Syria.

ISIS “has nothing to do with Islam” but “is a political party” and “has been sent from outside.”

  1. Mary Salmond says:

Bishop Battah says a few significant things: the Syrian people want to stay there, it is their home (reminds me of how the Polish people defend their country). What the French revolution has done in terms of Christianity and the Catholic church. And there have not been Arab philosophers in its recent past. All these point to the heart of the Middle East conundrum. Christian Syrians are present day martyrs! Stay strong – convert the world with your sacrifice!

  2. Toad says:

It seems to me the least awful countries to live in are those where individuals can be, and think, whatever they want – Christian, Muslim, Atheist, Hindu, Gay or Straight, Mod or Trad – or any combination thereof. That would be Europe at present.
