On its website, the Shrewsbury Diocese invites Catholics to attend the event in Liverpool:

Fr Robert Barron is a well known American Diocesan Priest – he hosts a weekly programme on EWTN and on Salt and Light TV. He has produced a series of DVD’s called Catholicism. It is being launched in the UK (Durham, Birmingham and Westminster) at the end of April.

Fr Barron is a wonderful speaker and the DVDs present the main teaching of the Catholic faith in a way that is presentable and challenging.

Fr Barron will be coming to the Liverpool Archdiocesan Centre for Evangelisation on Monday 30th April at 7.30pm. He will introduce and present the DVDs. This event is open to anyone – but it will be of special interest to RCIA groups, parents, catechists, teachers and anyone interested in evangelisation and passing on the faith.

There is no charge – just turn up – all welcome.

Further details from Fr Philip Inch, Episcopal Vicar for Evangelisation in the Archdiocese of Liverpool, on 0151 487 9372

Here is a catechist’s account of the success of “Catholicism” in the Southwark diocese.

This is fantastic news! I do hope I can get to one of thos venues with some of my crowd. It is what the Church really needs right now, to get the full truth out there where its most needed, and Fr. Robert Barron is a great speaker.

There is far too much ignorance around amongst baptised Catholics who, mainly through no fault of their own, have not been taught the basics of the wonders of the Holy Catholic Church and all its history.
This bit from the catechist’s accoount given in the link: “What has struck me most is the desire in people to know their faith. This has not been taken seriously enough in our Church. A young woman told me in the pub afterwards that her eyes had been opened to how much she simply didn’t know. People speak of how nourishing the material is and how it makes them hungry for more…” says it all.

We LOVE the Catholicism series! It’s visually beautiful and enlightening, presenting the richness of our faith in a true and compelling way without being pedantic or preachy. It’s the perfect tool for evangelization. Thank you Father Barron!!!

The perfect tool for evangelisation – my thoughts exactly, Janet, as I watched the series several months ago with family and friends, having ordered the DVD set from the US. I also found myself thinking: if only every Catholic school and parish could enjoy and learn from this outstanding presentation of the Faith as we did! Please pray for the success of Fr Barron’s tour as he brings CATHOLICISM to our spiritually malnourished country.

Sounds like a great reply to the Ray Van derLaan series “So that the World May Know”. I am looking forward to seeing if this is true and studying this through a Catholic source.
